Enrolled Students - $15 per Class Meeting (For students enrolled in our regular
private lessons)
Non-Enrolled Students - $20 per Class Meeting (Non-Enrolled students must interview
and audition)
As the group grows, we may revert to
yearly dues to reduce paperwork.
Each Celtic Music Group Class Meeting
will be focused on developing a repertoire of Celtic and other similar types
of music. Both traditional and modern approaches will be taken.
All instruments
will be tuned to the Bagpipes, as the pipes cannot be tuned to other instruments.
Initially pipers will use only practice chanters as the volume of the pipes
would drown out the other musicians. We will try to find a way to incorporate
the pipes later.
Here is a partial list of instruments that
the group would incorporate: musicians could
also multi-task and play some of these other instruments if so desired.
Bagpipes (Practice
Chanters for now)
Drums (bass drum,
snare drums, also possible full or partial drum sets)
Portable Keyboards
with varying sounds
Guitar (with capo
or tuned to match Bagpipes)
Bass (Limited to
one or two students)
Pennywhistles (probably
Eb tuning only to match bagpipe tuning)
Recorder (either
a C or F tuned Recorders, but modified scale to match the Eb scale for Bagpipes)
Various Wind Instruments
(must be approved)
Various Percussion
(appropriate to group)
Fiddle (tuned up
1/2 step to match pipes)
Mandolins tuned
up 1/2 step
Vocalists (Primarily
interested in Celtic music... but may vary)
This will be an exciting group and will be focused
on incorporating these instruments into various styles of Celtic and other appropriate
music that could be performed with the instruments in the group.
